2010 Award Recipient Biographies
        Donaldson Romeo ’80
Alumni Award Recipient

Donaldson Romeo ’80 has fought for fifteen years to help his native Montserrat, a small Caribbean island and British overseas territory, regain self-sufficiency in the wake of devastating natural disasters. As an activist and journalist, and now as a member of the Montserrat parliament, to which he was elected in 2009, he has championed the cause of the island’s displaced and dispossessed. His varied career also includes time spent transforming his family’s building-materials business and working as a portrait artist in England.

Karen Sulzberger ’70
Alumni Award Recipient

Karen Sulzberger ’70 has helped to make history more meaningful through her work with Facing History and Ourselves, the Boston-based international educational program that examines the roles of prejudice, apathy, and fear in history and engages nearly two million students each year. She helped to found a Facing History chapter in Los Angeles, California, which she chaired for many years while serving on the organization’s national board. Her interest in George School includes an international service scholarship that she established with her husband, writer Eric Lax.
