George School is proud to announce that senior Inna Alecksandrovich, a Newtown resident, was selected as a semifinalist in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship Program based on her performance on the 2005 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). In addition, seventeen seniors who were high scorers on the test received letters of commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.

As a semifinalist, Inna is among approximately 16,000 high school seniors who will have the opportunity to proceed in the competition for about 8,200 Merit Scholarship awards that will be given this spring. George School's commended students (listed below) scored among the top 5 percent of the over 1.4 million juniors in United States high schools who entered the 2007 National Merit Program by taking the 2005 PSAT/NMSQT.

Founded in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Program is a privately-financed annual academic competition for recognition and scholarships.
