TV News Anchor, Dawn Timmeney, Returns to George School

Television news anchor Dawn Timmeney graduated from George School in 1979. She returns to campus on Monday morning, April 24, 2006, as a career workshop speaker to describe her career in journalism to students and faculty. Her presentation will be from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. in Walton Center Auditorium.

Since 2003, Dawn Timmeney has performed her “Dawn Patrol” duties from 5:00 to 7:00 a.m. as part of the NBC 10 News Today anchor team. She still contributes reports to the 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 p.m. news broadcasts. She recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment Broadcast for the half-hour special, Best Summer Gig Ever.

Other speakers include parent Ted Tally and seven additional alumni: Robert Burchman ’96, Andrew Cantor ’77, Meg Hagele ’88, Lucy Judson ’69, Katharine (Kejy) Judson-Yager ’95, Kassem Lucas ’90, and Clay Tyson ’81. Jim Collins, Anthony Dagrosa, Joe Dupriest, Jimmy Flail, Peter Harvey, Roland Pott, and Carl Rosenberg will also discuss their careers.

Besides journalism, careers represented include a climbing center entrepreneur, a physician assistant, a medical student, sports managers, a concert and club promoter, a music producer, a graphic designer, a screenwriter, an attorney, a café owner, an executive chef, a wealth manager, a chief information officer, and a criminal justice specialist.
