Hundreds of exuberant George School students, faculty, and staff came together today to witness history and celebrate the inauguration of the nation’s first African American president. They watched the broadcast in Walton Auditorium, and to many, it was as if they were part of the two million member group cheering from the National Mall in Washington D.C. They stood in unison, applauding, cheering, and chanting "Obama" with the national audience.
“It was awesome to stand up with George School friends as both Joe Biden and Barack Obama took their oaths of office,” said Caleb Savage ’11. “We stood again for the national anthem and at the end, everyone was reluctant to leave.”
Sam Popkin ’11 added, “It was a cool experience to see how much it meant to everyone to listen to Obama's speech. His campaign inspired my generation.”
