George School is proud to announce that senior Zachary Martinez of Newtown, Pennsylvania, has been named a Scholar in the 2008-09 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP), and that seniors Anaka Allen of New York City, and David Balme of Brooklyn, New York, have received Honorable Mentions in the program.

Zachary, Anaka, and David are among nearly 5,000 students who have been selected for recognition by the NHRP this year from a pool of more than 200,000 students who entered the program by taking the 2007 PSAT/NMSQT and identifying themselves as Hispanic. The NHRP’s honors are awarded on the basis of students’ 2007 PSAT/NMSQT scores and their academic records. A list of the students honored in the program is distributed to subscribing colleges and universities.

Administered by the College Board, the NHRP was created in 1983 to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students.
