George School parents are invited to a special screening of the award-winning documentary “American Promise” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1 in the Mollie Dodd Anderson Library conference room, hosted by the George School Parents Association and the George School Diversity Committee.

“American Promise,” recently premiered on PBS, follows the lives of two middle class black families after their sons Idris and Seun enroll in The Dalton School in New York City. The film has won awards at the New York Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.

Prior to the screening, parents are invited to a light dinner served in the meetinghouse from 5:30 p.m. to 6:20 p.m.

This screening will be followed on April 8 with a discussion led by Diversity Committee members, George School Trustee Kassem Lucas ’90 and Assistant Director of Admission Donnie Smith, in the Mollie Dodd Anderson Library conference room. A light dinner will be available at 5:30 p.m. followed by the discussion beginning at 6:30 p.m.

This is the Parents Association’s third parent program of the year. For more information about the film, please visit “American Promise”: PBS POV: (includes trailer).
