Despite the bone-chilling cold weather on Friday evening, more than thirty young alumni attended the annual pizza party for young alumni and current seniors. While enjoying pizza, homemade cookies and conversation, members of the classes of 2005 through 2010 shared memories and news about friends, college, travel...and lots of hilarity.
After a while, folks began to drift across the way to the new library, filled with excitement and anticipation, eager to take a first glimpse of the space. Arriving before the appointed time for the tour and before the security guard who was to open the main area for the tour, a few clever souls found a way around the barrier and cheerfully greeted the rest of us from behind the gate. No breaking and entering, mind you...just plain old GS resourcefulness.
All were amazed by what they saw; several lingered long after the crowd dispersed, reminiscing about their time in the old library and admiring the thoughtfulness of the design of the new. I detected just a hint of envy...but mostly appreciation and awe. Sweet.
