Poetry and the Post-Season Part 3

Posted By Karen Hallowell, Thursday, November 5, 2009

Philadephia fans were stalwart and true but ultimately the Yankees proved to be too much for their Phightins. The bats may have been silenced, but the pens rallied. (For a complete view of the post season baseball limerick collection on the Alumni Website, click here.)

Subject: Yanks
Is being quiet having heart?
Because I haven't heard a Phillies fan from the start.
It's 3-1 so just throw it in the bag.
27 rings to be, I think we are allowed to brag.
It's ok there's always next year, fans.
From: Nancy Culleton, Monday, November 02, 2009
Subject: Don't brag too soon
Go ahead, brag if you must
That the Yanks will leave us in the dust.
As the great Yogi said,
"It ain't over (yet)
Till it's over" -- in Cliff Lee we trust!
From: Haley S., Tuesday, November 03, 2009
Subject: Baseball Limerick
I know nothing about baseball
But as I read about this squall
between the Phillies and the Yanks
I feel excited but still a little dank
What a shame no one can win them all!
(Give that young woman a George School diploma!)
